East Bladen Lady Eagles Still No. 1 In State

East Bladen rolled to victories over Pender, Heide Trask and Wallace-Rose Hill last week to remain unbeaten at 15-0 and retained their No. 1 ranking in the NC Preps.com Class 2-A State rankings.

Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles claimed 8 of 11 first-place votes. No. 2 Mountain Heritage (12-0), No. 3 East Davidson (14-0) and No. 8 Bunn (14-0) received the other first place votes.

No other Cape Fear area team made the top ten rankings. East Duplin (13-1) and Jacksonville Northside (11-2) received Honorable Mention.

West Bladen’s Boys, now 10-3, dropped out of the Class 2-A Boys rankings, but still received Honorable Mention along with 12-4 Clinton who edged the Knights 68-67 Friday night.

Four County Conference leader Midway (12-2) is ranked No. 9 in the 2-A Boys Poll which is led by No. 1 Kinston (10-3) and No. 2 Smoky Mountain (13-1).
