With two weeks left before the NCHSAA releases the Class 2A Football Play-off brackets, some prognosticators are already releasing projections for those brackets.
HighSchoolOT.com, led by Nick Stevens, is one of the more respected of these prognosticators.
East Bladen’s Eagles are seeded fifth in the East with an 8-1 record by HighSchool OT and would open the play-offs at home against Bertie, the No. 12 seed. According to this bracket, an Eagle victory could set up a second round match-up at No. 4 Wallace-Rose Hill.
Other teams of interest in the Class 2A East include: No. 1 Elizabeth City Northeastern, No. 3 Southwest Onslow, No. 7 Ayden-Grifton, No. 8 Kinston, No. 10 Farmville Central, No. 15 Heide Trask and No. 16 James Kenan.
Probably the biggest surprise is that a trio of Three Rivers Conference teams are projected to be placed in the Class 2A Western bracket including No. 4 South Columbus, No. 8 Whiteville and No. 12 Red Springs. Shelby is the No. 1 seed in the Class 2A West.
In the Class 2AA brackets, East Duplin is the top seed in the East, Clinton is No. 12 and St. Pauls is No. 15.
