Two East Bladen Eagles – senior running back Farrell Murchison and sophomore defensive back Kyle Tatum – have been named to the NC Preps Class 2-A All-State Football Team.
Murchison carried the ball 285 times for 2,491 yards and 38 total touchdowns as the Eagles posted a 10-3 record and reached the second round of the State Class 2-A Play-offs.
The 2,491 yards set an East Bladen record for rushing yardage in a season breaking former Appalachian State star Kevin Richardson’s previous record. For his career Farrell rushed 685 times for 5,700 yards and 73 touchdowns which is also the school record.
Tatum finished the season with 33 tackles – 15 solo tackles. The Eagle sophmore intercepted 3 passes and recovered 3 fumbles.
Murchison and Tatum were earlier named to the Wilmington Star News All-Area Football Team.
Murchison has also been named the Fayetteville Observer’s All-Region Football Player of the Year.
