WHITEVILLE – Senior quarterback Luke Odham threw for 4 touchdowns Thursday night as Whiteville’s Wolfpack defeated East Bladen 55-18 in Waccamaw Conference football action.
Odham connected with junior Will Fisher on TD passes of 28, 66 and 22 yards – the final 2 in the 4th quarter. Odham also tossed an 8-yard touchdown pass to junior Cameron McKvian in the 3rd period.
Senior Jamal Faulk scored from a yard out, and senior Amari Best dashed 29 yards for a touchdown as the Wolfpack grabbed an early 14-0 lead after Odham flipped a conversion pass to Fisher.
After Fisher’s 1st touchdown reception, East Bladen answered as senior Na’Toren Corbett caught a 44-yard touchdown pass from junior Kewone Maynor to trim the margin to 20-6. However Best returned the ensuing kickoff 55-yards for a touchdown, and Faulk ran the conversion for a 28-6 halftime lead.
The Eagles drove for a touchdown on their initial possession of the 2nd half with senior Masion Brooks plowing into the end zone from 5 yards out to narrow the gap to 28-12. However a 5-yard TD run by Faulk, and McKvian’s touchdown catch plus a pair Grayson Creech extra points pushed the lead to 42-12.
After the Eagles recovered a Wolfpack fumble, Brooks bolted 12 yards for an East Bladen touchdown that trimmed the margin to 42-18. However two more Odham scoring passes to Fisher accounted for the final margin.
Brooks finished with 96 yards rushing on 17 carries for the Eagles.
East Bladen, now 4-2 in Waccamaw play and 5-5 overall, will have an open date next week and then wait for the Class 1A playoff brackets to be released.
