Kayla Thompson, a sophomore at UNCW, made a move every golfer would be proud of when she improved her scoring average from 79.36 in her freshman year to 76.42 in her just completed sophomore year. While spending a lot of time in improving her golf skills she found time to excel in her studies also.
During the 2015-16 college golfing season Kayla played 24 tournament rounds. She had 1,834 strokes, had a low 54 hole score of 216, and low 18 hole scores of 70’s. In participating in eight events she was in the top 5 one time, and twice in the top 10.
The Clarkton resident will be working this summer at a golf store in Myrtle Beach, taking lessons from her coach at the beach and playing an amateur schedule for lady golfers.
