A Staff Report

Mark your calendars for an important event aimed at keeping our furry companions healthy and safe. On Saturday, September 30th, 2023, a free rabies vaccination clinic will take place at Bladen Community College from 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM. This crucial initiative is proudly supported by the Elizabethtown Veterinary Hospital and the Bladen County Animal Shelter.

One of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of rabies, a potentially life-threatening disease, is through regular vaccinations. If your pet is due for a three-year rabies vaccine, it’s essential to bring along proof of a previous vaccine. This will ensure that your pet’s vaccination record is up-to-date and in compliance with North Carolina law.

According to the regulations outlined in North Carolina law, “the owner of every dog and cat over four months of age shall have the animal vaccinated against rabies.” This requirement holds true within Bladen County as well. As responsible pet owners, it’s our duty to ensure the well-being of our beloved pets and the safety of our community.

Owners of dogs and cats who have not been vaccinated in accordance with this law are subject to a civil penalty of $200. By participating in this free rabies vaccination clinic, you’re not only fulfilling your legal obligations but also contributing to the collective effort to maintain a healthy and rabies-free environment.

Take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to protect your furry friends and be a responsible member of our community. Join us on September 30th at Bladen Community College for a hassle-free and cost-free rabies vaccination event. Let’s ensure the well-being of our pets and uphold the safety standards set by our state. Your participation can make a significant difference!
