DUNN – Senior Maya McDonald posted a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds, and senior Alexus Mitchell fired in 15 points to lead East Bladen to a 46-41 Southeastern Athletic Conference girls’ basketball victory over Midway Tuesday night.
Mitchell also collected 7 steals in the game. Freshman Iveonna “NeNe” Ward tossed in 10 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and came up with 7 steals. Junior Maegan Burney threw in 8 points, and junior AnnaGrey Heustess dished out 4 assists and blocked 2 shots. Freshman Laila Smith blocked 3 shots.
The Lady Eagles built an early 11-6 lead and enjoyed an 18-14 halftime lead. East Bladen stretched their margin to 31-23 after 3 periods then withstood an 18-point 4th quarter rally by Midway.
Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles improved to 8-2 in SAC-7 play and are 19-2 overall. East Bladen will be at Clinton Wednesday night.
