East Bladen’s Lady Eagles blitzed Southwest Onslow with a 32-point first quarter and rolled to a 52-11 season-opening non-conference victory Thursday night.
Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles who posted a 26-1 record last season and lost only to Class 2A State Runner-up Kinston led 32-0 at the quarter break and 44-3 at halftime.
Senior Lacey Suggs lit up the scoreboard with a game-high 18 points and filled up the stat sheet with 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.
Senior Christiana Cromartie tossed in 10 points for the winners and also blocked 2 Lady Stallion shots. Freshman Ashley Hardin pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds, scored 4 points and was credited with 4 steals.
Senior guard Abby Ward dished out a game-high 6 assists and came up with a game-high 5 steals. Ward also tossed in 5 points. Junior Emily Scott grabbed 5 rebounds and tallied 4 points.
All the Lady Eagles who played in the game scored.
East Bladen will host St. Pauls Tuesday at 6 p.m.
