BLADENBORO – Sophomores Rylee Chadwick and Lainey Autry combined for 23 points to lead West Bladen to a 41-11 season-opening girls basketball victory over East Columbus Friday.

Chadwick topped the Lady Knights with 14 points, and Autry finished with 9. “We are really young (6 sophomores, 3 freshmen)” said Coach Brian McCleney. “We really need Rylee and Lainey to step into leadership roles this season even though they are sophomores.”

Chadwick poured in 4 baskets and 2 free throws, and Autry nailed a 3-point shot as the Lady Knights raced to a 13-0 1st quarter lead. Chadwick canned 2 free throws, and Autry and freshmen Megan Pait and Brooke Singletary threw in baskets as the West lead grew to 21-3 at halftime.

Sophomore Makayla Wright and freshman Mallory Bryan tossed in 3rd period baskets, and Singletary added a free throw to keep the lead at 26-7.
