BLADENBORO – West Bladen and East Columbus battled to a scoreless tie Wednesday night in non-conference girls’ soccer action. West Bladen’s senior goalie Briana Carranza Toledo recorded the shutout and was credited with 11 saves.
Coach Kristen Parker’s Lady Knights are now 2-5-3 and will return to Southeastern Athletic Conference play Friday night at St. Pauls. East Columbus, now 5-4-1, will travel to Heide Trask Tuesday night.
Juniors O’Mara McDonald and Jazmy Funez Aranda had shots on goal for the Lady Knights. Funez Aranda had 3 shots in the game, and senior Brookee’ Singletary, McDonald and junior Anna Campbell fired off 1 shot each.
Singletary keyed the Lady Knight defense with 8 steals. Funez Aranda collected 7 steals, and sophomores Faith Wren and Makenna Thurman and freshman Ashley Baiza Rivon finished with 6 steals each. Junior Haleigh Seabolt contributed 4 steals.
