Q. Which one of these men designed and built White Lake Golf Course, now Vineyard Golf At White Lake: Pete Dye, Willard Byrd, Stuart Gooden or Donald Ross?
A. Stuart Gooden. Mr. Gooden was a surveyor in Bladen County at the time. He was assisted by Charlie Benson, who would run the course for quite a few years. The course was bought by Ted Parker of Lumberton at one time and Mr. Byrd assisted Mr. Parker in a slight redesign of the course. It was known then as Carolina Sands.
