In honor of her academic achievement at East Bladen High School and interest in the field of business, Heavyn Smith has been selected to attend the National Youth Leadership Forum (NYLF): Business Innovation – 7 days to Startup, on the campus of Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut this summer.

The program host, Envision by WorldStrides, is one of the nation’s educational leaders in personalized experimental learning. The NYLF Business Innovation curriculum has been approved by the National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP).

By attending the program, students can also receive college credit through George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia. NYLF Business Innovation seeks students with academic promise and an interest in gaining foundations in business that will enable them to be successful, whether they plan to start a business or their college career.

Smith, a junior at East Bladen, is the daughter of Carla Smith and Boris Powell. Her grandparents are Rev. Carl and Jewell Smith, Rena Rhodie, and Walter and Brenda Rhodie.
