Elwell Ferry is closed again this week because of high water levels, according to the N.C. Department of Transportation.

The cable-operated ferry is expected to be closed through Friday, April 21, NCDOT says. The ferry crosses the Cape Fear River and connects N.C. 87 and N.C. 53 connecting Carvers Creek and Kelly. It’s located at 2700 Elwell Ferry Road.

Other road-related announcements for Bladen County include:

• A portion of State Road 1003 (Twisted Hickory) closed Monday, April 17 for crossline repairs. The road is expected to reopen Friday, April 28.

• US 701N: Both lanes of the northbound side over the Cape Fear River are closed. Traffic is being rerouted to the southbound lanes. The closure has a wide load traffic restriction.
