Three of Bladen County’s varsity basketball teams resume their seasons Thursday as holiday basketball tournaments kick-off at West Bladen and Hoggard High School in Wilmington.
Coach Kenzil McCall’s East Bladen Eagles will open the Adidas Christmas Tournament at West Bladen at 2 p.m. against a South Brunswick team that features UNC-Pembroke signee Jace McKinney.
Coach Travis Pait’s West Bladen Knights will play 2017 runner-up Scotland at 8 p.m. in Thursday’s Adidas nightcap.
Other Thursday match-ups include high-scoring First Flight against powerful Pinecrest at 4 p.m. and Coach Jerry Singletary’s Whiteville Wolfpack versus West Brunswick at 6 p.m.
The unbeaten East Bladen girls will travel to Wilmington Hoggard for their opening game in the Leon Brogden Holiday Tournament against the host Lady Vikings at 6 p.m. A win Thursday would send Coach Patty Evers’ Lady Eagles into a semi-final game Friday at 6 p.m. against the winner of Thursday’s game between Conway, SC and Wilmington Laney.
Both tournaments will continue Friday and Saturday.
