Jazmine KempElizabethtown native Jazmine Kemp has been named to the 2014 Peach Belt Conference women’s basketball All-Academic team.

Kemp, a senior forward, was UNC-Pembroke’s lone representative on the 30 member team who are chosen for their accomplishments in the classroom and on the court. The East Bladen grad’s 3.63 cumulative grade point average lands her on the all-academic team for the third time in her career, and she is also the leading scorer for the Braves.

The biology major averages 10.2 points per game and also contributes a team-high 3.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 6.6 rebounds per game. Kemp has recorded double-doubles this season against Coker, Francis Marion and Clayton State, and has scored in double-figures 12 times this season.

Kemp scored a season-high 22 points in a home victory over Clayton State. She has dished out seven assists twice this season in games against USC Aiken and Montevallo.

To qualify for the All-Academic team, a student-athlete must 1) participate in at least half of his/her team’s events and be either a starter or significant contributor; 2) achieved a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) and 3) completed at least one full academic year at their current institution.
