WILMINGTON – Wilmington Ashley built a 7-0 lead then withstood a West Bladen rally to post a 7-5 victory Thursday night in Junior American Legion baseball action.

Will Durden drew a lead-off walk in the West Bladen 5th inning, and Aiden Russ smacked a single. Bryce Fuller slammed a double that scored Will Durden, and Noah Parker reached on an error that scored Aiden Russ. Garrett Dunham knocked in Fuller with a single and later scored to cut the Ashley lead to 7-4.

Fuller led off the West 7th inning with a single and raced home when Cade Allen blasted a 2-out triple. However the next batter was retired to end the game.

Brady Durden started on the mound for the Knights and worked 3 innings allowing 3 runs on 5 hits and 2 walks while striking out one. Britt Sasser pitched 0.1 innings of relief and allowed 4 runs on 2 walks and 2 hits while striking out one. Allen pitched the final scoreless 2.2 innings striking out 6 and giving up no hits and no walks.

Fuller hammered a pair of doubles, finished 3-for-4 at the plate with a run batted in and 2 runs scored. Allen walloped the RBI triple, and Dunham and Jordan Hester added 1 hit each. Dunham added an RBI and a run scored, and Aiden Russ and Will Durden scored runs.

West Bladen is scheduled to travel to Whiteville Tuesday for a 7 p.m. game.
