BLADENBORO – Red Springs rallied from a 3-1 deficit to defeat West Bladen 7-3 Tuesday in Three Rivers Conference jayvee baseball action.

An error and Jaydon Hammonds’ single produced a 1st inning run for the visitors.

The Knights answered with a 3-run, 2nd inning. Garrison Carr lined a single to left, and Will Durden walked. Both runners moved up on a passed ball, before Jordan Hester ripped a single through the right side that scored Carr. A throwing error on the play scored Durden, and Hester later raced home on a wild pitch.

An error, 2 walks, Tim Hammonds’ single, 2 passed balls and a wild pitch produced a trio of Red Devil runs in the 3rd inning and vaulted the Red Devils in front 4-3. A walk, Jeb Clark’s single and 2 errors led to a trio of Red Springs runs in the 5th inning.

Jaydon Hammonds pitched a complete game 3-hitter and struck out 8 batters to pick up the win for Red Springs. He also batted 2-for-3 with a double and a run batted in.

Carr batted 2-for-3 and scored a run to lead the Knight hitters. Hester singled to drive in a run and scored a run. Durden also scored a run.

Carr started on the mound and pitched 3 innings, allowing 4 runs – 1 earned – on 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out five. Hester pitched the final 3 innings, giving up 3 unearned runs on 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out one.

The Knights, now 1-1 in the TRC and 3-3 overall, will travel to East Columbus Friday.
