ELIZABETHTOWN –The McKoy brothers, Kyran and Khalil, bombed in five 3-point baskets and rallied East Bladen to a 36-30 victory over South Columbus Thursday in the Waccamaw Conference jayvee boys’ basketball opener for both teams.

Kyran buried a pair of 3-point shots in the 3rd quarter, and Khalil nailed another 3-point shot as the Eagles overcame a 16-14 Stallion halftime lead with a 10-3 spurt that resulted in a 24-19 East lead.

Torrean Cogdell tossed in a trio of baskets and a free throw in the final period to keep the Eagles on top. Teammate Sheldon Melvin threw in a basket, and Kaden Johnson sank 3 free throws to secure the win.

Kyran McKoy dropped in a pair of 1st half baskets and topped the Eagle scoring with 10 points. Khalil McKoy blistered the nets with a pair of 3-point baskets in the 1st half and finished with 9 points. Cogdell chipped in with 7 points, and Melvin added 5 points.

Easton McPherson led South Columbus with 10 points, and Case Simmons followed with 8 points.

The Eagles improved to 3-4 with the win and will return to action on Jan. 3 at home against East Columbus.
