BLADENBORO – Keyshawn Kemp scored 10 of his game-high 20 points in the final quarter to lift East Bladen to a 38-33 non-conference jayvee boys basketball victory Tuesday over West Bladen.

The Knights’ Jamari Adams drained a 3-point shot, and JaQuan Lesane put back a rebound basket to tie the game 30-30. Kemp dropped in a pair of lay-ups- one off an assist from Khalil McKoy to push the Eagles back in front 34-30.

Damarion Bryant stole the ball and drove for a lay-up to pull West to within 34-32, but Kemp got behind the Knight press for a lay-up then powered in a rebound basket for a 38-32 lead.

The Knights raced to an early 16-5 lead as Sayvion Covington, Blake Britt and Adams buried 3-point shots. Lesane pumped in 2 baskets in the period.

The Eagles rallied to within 18-16 in the 2nd period as Torrean Cogdell tossed in 3 foul shots and a basket, and Khalil McKoy bombed in a 3-point shot. Three baskets from Kemp helped the Eagles edge ahead 28-25 in the 3rd quarter.

Cogdell followed Kemp on the Eagle scoring list with 8 points. Bryant led West Bladen with 9 points. Lesane finished with 8 points, and Adams chipped in with 6 points.

The Knights, now 0-2, will travel to Wilmington Hoggard Thursday, while East Bladen (1-1) will host Topsail Thursday.
