ELIZABETHTOWN – Josiah Barton nailed a key 3-point shot in the final period and racked up 21 points to lead West Brunswick to a 47-45 non-conference jayvee boys basketball victory over East Bladen Friday. Nicholas Graham added 11 points for West.

Keyshawn Kemp powered in 5 baskets and 2 free throws to spark a 17-11 Eagle rally in the 3rd quarter that sliced the Trojan lead to 40-39. Kemp worked the paint for 2 more baskets in the final period and topped all scorers with 22 points.

Teammate Dashawn Campbell fired in 13 of his 17 points in the 1st half to keep East Bladen within 29-22. Khalil McKoy drained a 3-point shot and finished with 5 points for the Eagles.

Campbell’s rebound basket with 1:28 left to play trimmed the Trojan lead to 47-45. The Eagles had several shot attempts in the final minute but couldn’t get the tying basket.

The Eagles, now 2-4, will host South Columbus to open Waccamaw Conference play Thursday.
