Nae-ChaestnuttNae-Chaestnutt2Clinton 45, West Bladen 26

Center Nae Chaestnutt dropped in 23 of her game-high 31 points in the second half to lead Clinton to a 45-26 Four County Conference jayvee girls basketball victory at West Bladen Friday.

Chestnutt made 11 of 18 free throws for the Lady Dark Horses who connected on 12 of 21 foul shots as a team. The Lady  Knights only attempted 9 free throws and made 3 of them.

Trailing 8-3 after one quarter, the Lady Knights rode a 12-6 surge in the second period to a 15-14 halftime lead. Freshman Elizabeth Allbright fired in all of her team-high 6 points in the quarter.

Chestnut took over after halftime as Clinton rode a 19-2 blitz to a 33-16 lead. Chestnut tallied 13 points in the third quarter.

WilliamsParkerFreshman Indiyah Williams nailed a 3-point shot and scored 5 points for West Bladen in the final period, but the Lady Knights couldn’t dent  the Lady Dark Horse lead.

Williams and Patience Parker scored 5 points each for West Bladen, and teammates Anna Moser and Mikayla Winebarger added 4 points each.

“That’s the best game that we played all season,” said West Bladen Coach Joe Lewis. “We ran out of gas in the second half.”

The Lady Knights will host Midway Friday after the exam break.
