BLADENBORO – Red Springs built a 17-9 lead then held on for a 23-19 Three Rivers Conference jayvee girls basketball victory over West Bladen Tuesday.

Makayla Wright tossed in a first half basket, and teammate Kirsten Warrick sank a free throw for the Lady Knights, but the visitors took a 6-3 halftime lead.

Wright, Anasia Baxley and Azillyah McDonald threw in third quarter baskets for the Lady Knights. Wright fired in a trio of baskets in the final period and topped the West Bladen scoring with 10 points. Teammates Cassi Humphrey and Anasia Baxley scored a basket each in the final quarter.

The Lady Knights are now 3-7 on the season.
