RED SPRINGS – West Bladen capitalized on 21 walks, 3 hits, 4 hit batters and 4 errors to pile up 25 runs in 3 innings and defeat Red Springs 25-3 Wednesday in non-conference jayvee softball action.

The Lady Knights jumped in front 10-0 in the 1st inning, scored twice in the 2nd then exploded for 13 runs in the third. Kaitlyn Brisson and Josie Troublefield walloped 2-run doubles to highlight the 3rd inning rally. Freshman Megan Pait singled for the other West hit.

In addition to the 2-run double, Brisson was hit by pitches 3 times and scored 4 runs. Pitcher Gracie Faircloth walked twice, scored 4 runs and drove in a run. Briley Stanley walked 3 times and scored 4 runs. Pait singled, walked twice and scored 3 runs. Brookee Singletary walked 3 times, was hit by a pitch and scored 3 runs.

Hannah Richardson and Olivia Allen both walked 3 times and both scored twice. Violet Allen and Kylie Duffle both walked twice and both scored a run. Troublefield slugged the 2-run double and walked.

Faircloth pitched a 3-inning one-hitter and struck out 6 batters. All 3 runs against her were unearned as the West defense committed 3 errors.

Coach Joe Lewis’ Lady Knight jayvees improved to 2-1 and will travel to Lumberton Thursday for a 5 p.m. game.
