ELIZABETHTOWN – Freshman Kaylie Atkins fired in 6 straight service points to begin the 3rd and deciding set and spark East Bladen to a 2-1 Waccamaw Conference jayvee volleyball victory over East Columbus by set scores of 25-17, 19-25 and 15-11.

Sophomore Aubrei Nixon and freshman Taylor Dowless scored service points to keep the Lady Eagles up 12-10, before sophomore Jenna Brice served out the match with a pair of service points.

“I couldn’t be more excited about this big win tonight!” said East Bladen Coach Jessica Eason. “My girls had to make some adjustments in this game and they killed it!”

Atkins and freshman Nadya Colon knocked in 2 service points each to edge East Bladen ahead 14-12 in the 1st set. Freshman Tatum Allen reeled off 5 straight service points to stretch the Lady Eagle lead to 22-14, and a trio of side-outs closed out the set for East Bladen.

Four service points from Colon kept the Lady Eagles within 17-15, but an 8-4 Lady Gator run claimed the 2nd set and tied the match.

Atkins racked up 11 service points to lead the East Bladen servers. Allen and Colon followed with 6 service points each. Nixon finished with 3 service points, and Brice collected 2 service points. Dowless and sophomore Mileigh Martin contributed 1 service point each.

The Lady Eagles improved to 7-4 in league play and 10-8 overall and will host Whiteville Thursday.
