ROCKY POINT –East Bladen swept Heide Trask 2-0 Tuesday by set scores of 25-17 and 26-24 in Waccamaw Conference jayvee volleyball action.
“Two games of great teamwork!” said East Bladen Coach Jessica Eason.
Freshman Marlee Potter sparked the Lady Eagles to an early 6-1 lead with 5 straight service points. Sophomore Aubrei Nixon won a pair of service points, and a Tatum Allen service point stretched the East lead to 11-4.
Service points from freshman Kaylie Atkins and Nixon kept the margin at 18-12. Allen rang up a pair of service points, and Taylor Dowless added a service point, before sophomore Jenna Brice served out the set at 25-17.
Atkins rallied the Lady Eagles to a 5-4 lead in the 2nd set with 4 consecutive service points. Service points from sophomore Mileigh Martin, Dowless, Atkins and Potter edged East in front 16-15.
Martin knocked in 2 more service points, before Allen reeled off 3 consecutive service points for a 23-18 Lady Eagle lead. Brice served out the match at 26-24.
Atkins, Potter and Allen led the winners with 6 service points each. Nixon and Martin contributed 3 service points each. Dowless and Brice racked up 2 service points each.
The Lady Eagle jayvees improved to 2-1 in conference play and 4-5 overall. East Bladen will travel to Clinton Wednesday.
