DUBLIN – Pender defeated West Bladen 2-0 Thursday night in Four County Conference jayvee volleyball action by set scores of 25-22 and 25-18.
On ‘Cure ALL Knight’, the Lady Knights played in honor of Kassidy Anderson’s mom who had surgery Wednesday for cancer and Kathryn Schultz, a senior player that has ulcerated colitis that requires chemo once a month.
“The team played with heart,” said West Bladen Coach Gaye Davis. “I told them before the game the final score was not what tonight was about.”
Junior Elizabeth Allbright fired in 5 aces, 3 service points and a kill to lead the Lady Knights. Teammate Alise Pait racked up 3 service points and a kill.
Freshman Lexie Corrothers slammed in 3 kills, an ace and 3 service points for West, and sophmore Brinkley Collier knocked in 2 kills and 2 service points.
Junior Mikayla Winebarger contributed 2 service points and a kill for the Lady Knights, and freshman Jordan Benson added a pair of service points.
West Bladen will travel to Clinton Tuesday for a 4:30 game.
