
FAYETTEVILLE – West Bladen won the decisive third set 15-9 to claim a 2-1 victory in its nonconference jayvee volleyball season opener over Westover on Monday night. The Lady Knights won the first set 26-24 before dropping the second set 25-16.
Freshman Whitney McLean hammered in five kills, four aces and three service points to lead the Lady Knight attack. Teammate Emily Young fired in six aces, a kill and a service point. Alyssa Suggs knocked in two kills, two aces and a service point.
Caroline Brisson slammed in three aces and a service point for West Bladen. Freshman Kennedy Carroll drilled in three service points and an ace. Lydia Villagomez swatted in two kills.
Catherine Dowless contributed a service point and an ace, and Kayla Norris tallied one service point.
West Bladen will travel to Red Springs next Tuesday for a 4:30 match.
