The Elizabethtown Kiwanis Club met this week and the biggest topic on the agenda was service projects.

Kiwanian Johnny Anderson reported on his experience at the Kiwanis Club’s convention held in Durham. “My take away is everyone is having membership issues.”

Anderson said Greg McDonald is the new Governor and Joe Crostic is the Lt. Governor. He also mentioned many of the service projects listed in the conventions brochure.

“Service projects are important,” Anderson said.

Following the report on the convention, Dr. Lisa Bryan announced the Boys and Girls Homes gave the club a certificate of appreciation for the club’s support.

Dr. Bryan also said the pencils the club delivers each year to every Bladen County School are ready for delivery. Club members will start delivering the pencils to the schools within the next week or two.

William Thompson, Treasurer of the club, gave his report. The group then discussed their annual RADA fundraiser coming up in October and the possibility of having a Swanson fundraiser as well.

Jeff Futrell, President of the local club, closed the meeting out by thanking everyone in attendance for all of their work.
