Happy September, Bladen County. We are getting closer to fall every day. I hope your Labor Day weekend was long and enjoyable. We may have been rained out of seeing the Super Blue Moon, but I’m glad the storm didn’t do much damage around here.

For our next star-gazing adventure, the Nishimura comet is heading this way. It is visible to the naked eye and will mark its closest point to Earth just before dawn on September 12, 2023. Be sure to look to the East-North-East toward the crescent moon and Venus to get a glimpse in the early morning.

As usual, the fine folks at the Bladen County Health Department completed sanitation inspections in August in some of our local stores, nursing homes and eateries. Be sure to check out the list below to see if your favorite spot is listed. Bon Appetite!
