FAYETTEVILLE – Davion Lewis and Jayce Hatcher teamed up to pitch a 1-hitter and strike-out 17 batters as Emereau Bladen blanked Fayetteville Christian 6-0 Wednesday in non-conference middle school baseball action.

Lewis started on the mound for the Aviators and struck out 14 batters in his 6 innings of work allowing only a single and 2 walks. Hatcher struck out the side in a 1-2-3 7th inning.

Zach Sholar smacked a 1-out single in the Emereau 1st inning, and Jake Gooden hammered a double that scored Sholar for a 1-0 lead.

Sholar drew a 1-out walk in the Aviator 3rd inning, and Davion Lewis smacked a single. Gooden reached base on an error, and Joshua Dawson launched a sacrifice fly that brought home Sholar and pushed the Emereau lead to 2-0.

The Aviators capitalized on a trio of Fayetteville errors in the 5th inning to score 3 runs and stretch their lead to 5-0. Sholar reached base on an error, and Lewis walloped a triple that scored Sholar. Gooden reached base on an error that plated Lewis. Gooden scored when Hatcher’s fly ball to leftfield was misplayed.

Lewis led off the Aviator 7th inning with a single, and Dawson and Ryker Strickland drew walks as Lewis scored the final Emereau run.

Lewis batted 3-for-4, slugged the run-scoring triple and scored 2 runs. Gooden slammed the run-scoring double and scored a run. Sholar and Scott added 1 hit each. Sholar scored 3 runs, and Dawson drove in a run.

The Aviators will travel to Williams Township Thursday for a 4 p.m. game.
