ELIZABETHTOWN – Jayce Hatcher pitched 4-hit shutout baseball for 6.2 innings and struck out 12 batters to lead Emereau Bladen to a 9-0 middle school victory over Harrells Christian Academy Tuesday.

The Crusader pitching struggled as the Aviators drew 12 walks in the game and used 9 of them to score 7 runs in the 1st 2 innings.

Cooper Long and Tyler Eason drew 1st inning walks, and a throwing error scored Long. Hatcher yanked a sacrifice fly to left that plated Eason for a 2-0 lead.

Landyn Scott, Conner Hill, Long, Eason, Hatcher and Cade Rogers all drew walks and Ryker Strickland reached base on an error in the Aviator 2nd inning. Scott, Hill, Long, Eason and Hatcher all scored to stretch the Emereau lead to 7-0.

Eli Woodell reached base on an error in the Aviator 5th inning, and Long knocked him in with a single. Hatcher walked, stole 2 bases and scored the final Emereau run in the 6th.

Long singled, walked twice, scored twice and drove in a run to lead the Aviators at the plate. Hatcher walked twice, scored twice and drove in a run. Eason walked 3 times and scored twice. Hill and Scott drew walks and scored runs, and Woodell scored the other Emereau run.

“Jayce Hatcher pitched all but 1 out complete game shutout with Tyler Eason catching,” said Emereau Coach Joseph Hatcher. “We played solid defense and heads-up baseball.” The Aviator defense turned 2 double plays in the game.

Luke Jackson and L. Weeks smacked 2 hits each to lead the Harrells hitters.

Emereau improved to 6-4 on the season and will travel to Christ the Cornerstone Monday.
