CERRO GORDO – Johnathan Ortiz fired in 2 goals and dished out 1 assist to lead Tar Heel’s Panthers to a 4-0 Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys’ soccer victory over West Columbus Monday.
Oriz blasted in a penalty kick in the 5th minute to open the scoring for Tar Heel. Teammate Alejandro Lopez knocked in a goal 5 minutes before halftime to push the Panther lead to 2-0.
Five minutes into the 2nd half, Ortiz drilled in another goal on a penalty kick to stretch the Tar Heel lead to 3-0. Ortiz sent a pass to Enrique Rodriguez who banged in the final Panther goal with about 10 minutes left to play.
Dylan Hernandez recorded the shutout in goal for Tar Heel and had 1 save.
The Panthers will host Central Wednesday at 3:45 in an early battle of unbeaten teams.
