ELIZABETHTOWN – Tar Heel edged Bladenboro 3-2 Thursday in a penalty kick shootout after the two teams battled to a 2-2 tie in regulation time in Waccamaw Middle School Conference boys soccer action.

Hezekiah Blanks slammed in a penalty kick after a tripping foul for the first Bulldog goal. Blanks blasted in an indirect kick from 25 yards out for the second Bladenboro goal. The Bulldogs lost another goal to an offsides call.

William Verdugo Gomez sent an assist to Jordan Underwood who knocked in the first Panther goal. Verdugo Gomez raced down the field behind the Bulldog defense and scored the tying goal with 2 minutes left in regulation.

Verdugo Gomez, Kevyn Labra and Alex Garza fired in their penalty kicks for Tar Heel in the shootout. Josh DeLeon and Aaron Thompson drilled in their penalty kicks for Bladenboro in the shootout.

Coach Ray Schmucker’s Panthers remain unbeaten with a 6-0 record and will play Elizabethtown Tuesday at County Park. The Bulldogs finished their season with a 4-3 record.
