ELIZABETHTOWN – Eric Hidalgo scored the only goal of the game Thursday night as Elizabethtown defeated Clarkton School of Discovery 1-0 in Waccamaw Middle School Conference action at County Park.

“CSD controlled a majority of the first half keeping the ball on our end, and we had a hard time transitioning from defending to attacking,” said Cougar Coach Jay Raynor. “We didn’t have many opportunities but made the most of the one that we did get.”

Malcolm Bolden hit a corner kick that came back out to him. Bolden then sent a pass to Hidalgo who hit a right-footed shot that curled into the left post. The Cougars led 1-0 at halftime.

“Clarkton had a great game plan and I thought outplayed us at times,” said Jay Raynor. “We played a strong second half and were able to keep the game in their half of the field.”

The Cougars, now 5-1, will play Whiteville Central Monday at County Park.
