CLARKTON – Montiera Richardson and Nevaeh Brown combined for 11 points Wednesday to lead Clarkton School of Discovery to a 15-9 non-conference girls’ basketball victory over Tar Heel. Richardson led Clarkton with 6 points, and Brown scored 5 points.

Brown, Richardson and Kynzlee Wood tossed in a basket each as the Lady Blue Devils grabbed an early 6-0 lead. Brown sank a basket and a free throw in the 2nd period, and Richardson added a basket as the CSD lead grew to 11-0.

Jasmine Robeson buried a 3-point shot in the 3rd quarter for Tar Heel, and teammate Abigail Dew cashed in 2 free throws as the Lady Panthers trimmed the margin to 13-5. Richardson threw in a basket for Clarkton in the period.

Tyliah Freeman delivered the final Blue Devil basket in the 4th period, and ZaAsia Lewis answered with a pair of baskets for Tar Heel. Lewis topped the Lady Panther scoring with 4 points, and Robeson finished with 3 points.

Coach Hakeem Swindell’s Lady Blue Devils improved to 5-1 overall and will host Tabor City Monday. The Lady Panthers, now 0-6, will visit West Columbus Monday.
