
WHITEVILLE – A 20-point third quarter propelled Williams Township to a 47-32 Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls basketball victory over Tar Heel.
Bethany Lupo scored 8 of her game-high 17 points for Williams in the quarter as the Lady Aggies stretched a 22-17 halftime lead to 42-25. Kiera Lewis and Harmony Jacobs threw in 2 baskets each for Tar Heel in the period.
Jacobs drilled in a 3-point shot and another basket in the final quarter, and Len’ya Harrell pumped in a basket.
Harrell led the Lady Panthers with 14 points, and Jacobs finished with 9 points. Lewis totaled 6 points in the game. Reah Lee tallied 8 points for Williams.
Lewis nailed a 3-point shot, and Harrell tossed in a basket in the first quarter, but Lupo’s 6 points sparked the Lady Aggies to a 13-5 lead.
Harrell fired in 5 baskets in the second quarter, and Violet Allen delivered a basket as the Lady Panthers closed the gap to 22-17 with a 12-9 surge.
Tar Heel will host Bladenboro Thursday.
