CLARKTON – Hadley Dove knocked in her 2nd goal of the game on a penalty kick with 40 seconds left to play that lifted Bladenboro to a 3-2 Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls’ soccer victory Wednesday over Clarkton School of Discovery.

The Lady Blue Devil goals were scored by Jamierra Bryant and Montiera Richardson, and Bryant’s goal staked Clarkton to an early 1-0 lead.

The Lady Bulldogs answered when Kristin Singletary sent what Coach Mike Dove called “a beautiful assist” to Emma King who banged in the goal that tied the game 1-1 at halftime.

With 10 minutes left to play, Dove launched a kick that sailed over the goalie’s head and into the back corner of the goal for a 2-1 Bladenboro lead.

Two minutes later Clarkton knotted the score again when Richardson drilled a shot from the top of the box into the top corner of the goal. The game remained 2-2 until the final penalty kick was awarded for a handball in the box.

“Both teams played fantastic today and both teams have really improved since the first game of the season,” said Mike Dove.

Bladenboro improved to 3-3 and will travel to Williams Township Thursday. Clarkton, now 1-6, has an open date Thursday.
