ELIZABETHTOWN – Tar Heel outscored Elizabethtown 3-0 in the penalty kick shootout after the 2 teams had battled to a scoreless tie in regulation play Thursday in Waccamaw Middle School Conference girls soccer action.
Lluvia Sanchez knocked in the 1st penalty kick for the Lady Panthers. Teammate Kathrine Mejia drilled in the 2nd PK, and Leidi Zuniga fired in the 3rd PK that clinched the victory.
Tar Heel goalie Jaimya Ballard recorded her 4th consecutive shutout. Ballard and the Lady Panther defense have only allowed 1 goal in 5 games. Ballard blocked a penalty kick during regulation play and had one other save. In the shootout she blocked 2 of the 3 penalty kicks.
Coach Brett Jackson’s Lady Panthers improved to 5-0 and will host East Columbus Monday at 4 p.m.
