WHITEVILLE – Maycee Kinlaw singled and scored the deciding run in the 7th inning Wednesday as Bladenboro’s Lady Bulldogs edged Williams Township 5-4 in Waccamaw Middle School Conference softball action.

Karlee Gause and Hadley Dove smacked singles after Kinlaw’s hit, and Giovanna Spaulding was hit by a pitch, before Diyari McKoy delivered another single.

Allison Hickman pitched a complete game 6-hitter and struck out 14 batters to pick up the win for the Lady Bulldogs. Williams’ Chloe Cribb pitched a 10-hitter and struck out 11 batters but walked five.

Kinlaw hammered a double to center field in the Bladenboro 1st inning and came around to score on infield hits by Gause and Dove.

The Lady Aggies answered with 3 run in the home first. Eden walked and Cribb drove her in with a double. McKenzie Spivey blasted a triple that scored Cribb. Laykynn cracked a single that scored Spivey for a 3-1 Williams lead.

Kinlaw and Gause belted singles in the Bladenboro 3rd inning and both of them scored to tie the game 3-3. Cheyenne Reinhart walked in the 4th inning, but was retired on Hickman’s fielder’s choice. Kinlaw yanked a single to left-center field that plated Hickman with the go-ahead run.

Williams tied the game in the 5th as Essense walked and sprinted home on Bristol Parker’s double.

Kinlaw batted a perfect 4-for-4 with a double, 3 runs scored and 1 RBI. Gause was a perfect 3-for-3 with a run scored. Dove finished 2-for-4 at the plate with an RBI. McKoy had an RBI single, Hickman scored a run, and Spaulding had 1 RBI.

Cribb led Williams with 2 doubles and 1 RBI. Spivey had an RBI triple, and Parker added an RBI double. Laykynn singled home a run.

Coach Otis Evans’ Lady Bulldogs improved to 2-0 and will host Nakina Tuesday.
