Elizabethtown ended Clarkton School of Discovery’s bid for an undefeated season Thursday as the Lady Cougars held on for a 19-15 Bladen Five Middle School Conference victory at Clarkton.

Coach Raymond Marlowe’s Lady Blue Devils still claimed the Bladen Five title with a 5-1 conference record and an 8-1 overall mark. Elizabethtown clinched second-place with a 4-2 league record.

Olivia Hollingsworth was the winning pitcher for the Lady Cougars and struck out two batters. Elizabethtown built a big early lead and withstood a Lady Blue Devil rally.

Zy’Asia Monroe slammed a double and a single and scored 3 runs to lead the Elizabethtown offense. Teammate Trinity swatted a double and a single and scored 2 runs.

Nesiah slugged a home run for the winners and scored 3 runs. Jatyra Moore-Peterson, Hollingsworth, Shenell McMillian, and LeeLee added one hit each to the 9-hit Elizabethtown attack.

Hollingsworth and Moore-Peterson scored 3 runs each, McMillian scored twice, and Natalie Gainey and LeeLee scored one run each.

Erica McKoy walloped a home run and 2 doubles and scored 4 runs to lead the Clarkton hitters. Teammate Carleigh DeVane hammered a triple and a single and scored a run.

Izzy Smith batted 1-1 for the Lady Blue Devils and scored 3 runs. Anna-Kate White scored 2 runs, and Adrian Howell, Graceyn Martin, Johanna Parker, Abby Cross and T. T. Gaddy scored one run each.
