ELIZABETHTOWN – Gracey Edwards pitched a 1-hitter and struck out 13 batters Tuesday to lead Emereau Bladen to a 14-2 softball victory over Sampson Middle School.
Edwards walked 2, hit a batter and the only Lady Dark Horse hit was a 4th inning triple by Capps, the Sampson pitcher. Sampson scored an unearned run in the 1st inning on an error, a stolen base and a passed ball.
Taylor Dowless beat out an infield hit to start the Emereau 1st inning and scored on a wild pitch. Jaimee Perkins blasted a triple to left field and scored on an error. Tatum Allen drilled a double off the left-center field fence and darted home on a passed ball.
Edwards walked, stole a base and dashed home on a passed ball. Emma Fisher reached base on a passed 3rd strike and circled the bases on a pair of passed balls to put the Lady Aviators up 5-1.
Dowless and Perkins belted singles in the 2nd inning and both of them scored on passed balls.
Addison Douglas walked and circled the bases on passed balls in the Emereau 3rd inning. Mollie Sasser beat out an infield hit, advanced on a pair of passed balls and scored on a throwing error. Dowless walked and sprinted home when Perkins walloped a home run to right-center field to grow the lead to 11-1.
Sierra Thompson, Anna Robinson and Chloe Merritt drew walks in the Lady Aviator 4th inning. Emma Adams’ fielder’s choice plated Thompson, and Dowless’ infield hit scored Robinson. Perkins lofted a sacrifice fly to center field that scored Merritt.
Perkins finished 3-for-3 at the plate with a home run, a triple, 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Dowless batted 3-for-3 with an RBI and 3 runs scored. Allen doubled, walked twice, had 1 RBI and scored a run. Sasser had the other Emereau hit.
Edwards, Fisher, Thompson, Douglas, Robinson, Merritt and Sasser scored 1 run each. Adams had an RBI.
Emereau Bladen improved to 4-1 on the season and will travel to Clarkton School of Discovery Tuesday.
