NAKINA – Nakina scored 16 runs in the 1st inning enroute to a 23-5 Waccamaw Middle School Conference softball victory over Elizabethtown Tuesday. Elizabethtown will visit East Columbus Thursday.
The Lady Mustangs smacked 6 hits in the game but capitalized on 22 walks. “The girls looked good offensively, but pitching is a work in progress,” said Elizabethtown Coach Chris Davisson.
Racquel Whittington walked to start the game, and Avionna Whittington belted a single. Sana’a Singletary, Zariyah Riddy, and Kamariah belted singles that scored Racquel Whittington, Avionna Whittington, Singletary and Riddy for an early 4-0 Lady Cougar lead.
Avionna Whittington singled and scored in the 2nd inning and finished with a 2-for-2 game and 2 runs scored. Singletary also batted 2-for-2 and scored a run. Riddy and Kamariah added 1 hit each, and Riddy scored a run.
