FAYETTEVILLE – Julia Flowers, Harlie Shaw and Bristol Allen combined for 22 service points Thursday to lead Emereau Bladen to a 2-0 middle school volleyball victory over Riverside Christian by set scores of 25-13 and 25-23.
Flowers smacked in 4 kills and 10 service points that included 5 aces. Allen pounded in 5 kills, 5 aces and another service point. Shaw drilled in 6 service points that included 3 aces.
Bella Beard hammered in 3 kills, 2 aces and 2 other service points for the winners. Addison Douglas fired in 3 aces, Mollie Sasser knocked in 2 service points, and Vera Valentiner slammed in 2 kills.
Shaw reeled off 6 straight service points to open the match. The teams traded points until Allen delivered a 4-point service run that padded the lead to 23-11. Douglas smoked in an ace for set point.
Beard rallied the Lady Aviators into a 12-8 lead in Set 2 with 4 straight service points. Flowers banged in 5 straight service points for a 20-12 lead, and Sasser served out the match after Riverside had tied the set 23-23.
Coach Julie Sasser’s Lady Aviators improved to 11-1 and will entertain Sampson Middle Tuesday.
