LUMBERTON – Emereau Bladen’s Lady Aviators withstood a late Southeastern Academy rally in the 3rd and deciding set to post a 2-1 victory in non-conference middle school volleyball action Tuesday by set scores of 25-17, 23-25 and 25-23.

With the match tied 1-1, Bristol Allen hammered in 6 consecutive service points including 3 aces to spark Emereau to an 11-4 lead. A pair of service points from Bella Beard padded the lead to 16-7.

Southeastern reeled off 8 consecutive service points to tie the set 18-18. Harlie Shaw and Julia Flowers knocked in 2 service points each to put the Lady Aviators up 24-21, and a side-out ended the match.

Shaw opened the 1st set with a trio of service points, and Beard reeled off a 5-point service run that included 3 aces and put the Lady Aviators up 12-8. Flowers drilled in a trio of service points that upped the count to 20-13, and a pair of service points by Addison Douglas stretched the lead to 24-15.

Two service points from Shaw and 2 aces and another service point from Allen edged Emereau ahead 8-7 in Set 2. Shaw delivered 2 more service points for a 16-15 lead. Allen banged in a trio of service points to slice the Southeastern lead to 23-22, but Southeastern closed out the set with a side-out.

Allen and Shaw tallied 12 service points each to lead the Lady Aviator scoring. Allen smacked in 4 aces and Shaw slammed in 3. Flowers pounded in 7 aces. Beard smashed in 4 aces and scored 7 service points.

Douglas fired in 4 service points. Mollie Sasser, Elyn Rice and Makenna Bryan finished with 3 service points each. Sasser and Rice smoked in 2 aces each. Trinity Locklear and Rylie Sierra collected 2 service points each, and Sierra swatted in an ace.

It was the 4th consecutive win for Emereau who will host Cape Fear Academy Thursday.
