The Mother County Genealogical Society meeting will be held on Saturday, April 9, from noon to 2 p.m. at the Bladenboro Historical Society Building located at 818 South Main Street, Bladenboro. The speaker will be Mr. William Pate Sr. from Hope Mills.
On July 22, 1587, about 150 English men and women arrived on Roanoke Island, North Carolina and had disappeared before a supply ship could return. Pate has spent much of his life researching to determine what happened to the “Lost Colony.” He has published a book of his research and believes that he has located the grave of Virginia Dare, the first English child born in America.
