WAKE FOREST – Freshman Kayla Rice fired in a ‘Hat Trick’ of 3 goals in the 2nd half to lead Franklin Academy to a 4-0 victory over East Bladen in the 3rd of the NCHSAA 2A Girls Soccer Playoffs.

The 2 teams battled to a scoreless tie in the opening half. Sophomore Lydia Rogers scored the other Lady Patriot goal. Sophomore Olivia Olarte and freshmen Libby Burrows and Kristine Carroll were credited with assists for Franklin Academy.

Sophomore Griffin Coward recorded a shutout in goal for the Lady Patriots who improved to 18-5 and will travel to No. 1 seed Clinton Thursday night. The Lady Dark Horses advanced with a 6-1 victory over Southwest Onslow.

Coach Jay Raynor’s Lady Eagles had their 10-game winning streak snapped and completed their season with a 15-4-1 record.
