The new Bladenboro Community Building has been put to great use since it’s construction was finished in November of 2014. Not only does the Bladenboro Rotary Club use the facility for their weekly meetings, and the senior citizens of Bladen County enjoy it’s fine amenities, but the building is available for rent for others to use as well.

The Town of Bladenboro provided $5,000 for the new building and the rest was funded by a $500,000 CDBG NC Catalyst Grant. The investment has paid off and now the building houses worth while meetings and gatherings.

The Bladenboro Senior Center Nutrition Program managed by Jane Walters had their Open House at the new building on May 7th of this year. The program offers a place for senior citizens to socialize and receive a nutritional meal five days a week.

According to Walters the program offers lunches for any citizens 60 years of age or older, and they have coffee every morning, enjoy games, outings, guest speakers and more. Walters said, “I’d like to have someone do blood pressure clinics once a month. We really have a great group here. They enjoy getting out and the fellowship with each other.”

The Bladenboro Rotary Club, who believes in “Service Above Self” meets at the building every Monday evening at 6:30 pm. The club helps improve the community and the world with their projects. They give out scholarships and dictionaries every year to local students, along with other service projects.

According to Melanie Hester, Town Administrator of Bladenboro, the community building is offered for rent when there isn’t anything else scheduled. The building has two bathrooms a full kitchen with two stoves, a large open room, and more. Anybody that would like to rent the building has to pay a $50 deposit.
