GREENWOOD, SC – West Bladen grad Rahu Purdie filled up the stat sheet with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists and led Lander to an 80-71 victory over Georgia College Wednesday night in the Peach Belt Conference regular season finale for the Bearcats.

Lander finished in fourth place in the PBC Eastern Division and will open play in the PBC Tournament Saturday in Morrow, GA against Clayton State, the top seed from the PBC West.

Purdie popped in a jump shot and drove for a lay-up midway the first half as the Bearcats battled back from a 12-2 deficit to take a 40-36 halftime lead.

The White Oak native dished an assist to Chris Tate for a lay-up then nailed a 3-point shot for a 51-38 Lander lead with 15:29 left to play. Another Purdie 3-ball pushed the lead to 67-54 with 6:16 on the clock. His final point came on a free throw in the closing seconds.

Monday Purdie fired in 14 points in an 88-69 loss to Young Harris. The sophmore guard drained a pair of 3-point shots and connected on 5 of 10 shots from the field.

Purdie finished the regular season as the Bearcats second-leading scorer with a 13.5 points per game average. He is second on the team in assists with a 3.5 average
