The weather is not always sunny and warm. The American Red Cross volunteers are aware life can bring some hard times.

The Bladen County Deputy Fire Marshall, Kenneth Clark, announced the non-profit is at the Elizabethtown Fire Department today, Wednesday, April 12th accepting applications for volunteers. Clark said the plan is to have a sign up event every month in Bladen County to encourage more Red Cross volunteers in the area.

The Red Cross has been helping Bladen County residents for years. During Hurricane Matthew in 2016 the group committed to assisting others helped distribute food, blankets and supplies in Bladen County and the surrounding areas.

The Elizabethtown Fire Department is located at 401 W. Swanzy Street in Elizabethtown. For more information about the non-profit looking for volunteers visit: http://www.redcross.org/
