ST PAULS – West Bladen’s girls won the Southeastern Athletic Conference track & field championship meet Wednesday piling up 122 points to finish well ahead of host St. Pauls (72 points), Fairmont (71), Midway (69) and 5th place East Bladen (54).

Coach Stanley Williams’ Lady Knights dominated the relays racking up 34 points by winning the 4×100 and 4×800 events, placing 2nd in the 4×200 and 3rd in the 4×400. Junior Keira Lewis and senior Shanyla Hunter placed 1-2 in the long jump with Lewis’ winning leap of 15 feet, 6 inches edging Hunter by an inch.

West Bladen junior Trinity VanEyken won the 100 meter hurdles and was 3rd in the 300 hurdles. Sophomore Destyni Blackwell tallied 8 points with a 2nd place finish in the 800 meter run, and junior Adairus Jimeniz was 2nd in the 3200 meter run.

Lady Knight senior Azillyah McDonald totaled 10 points by finishing 3rd in the 100 meter hurdles and 4th in the 300 hurdles. Junior Harmony Jacobs also scored 10 points for West taking 3rd place in the discus and 4th place in the shot put.

Senior Reema Virden led East Bladen with 18 points winning the 800 meter run and placing 2nd in the 1600 meters. The East Bladen 4×200 meter relay team won their event. The 4×100 meter relay team posted a 3rd place finish, and senior Savanna Howell finished 3rd in the triple jump.

Clinton edged St. Pauls 156 points to 155 for the boys’ championship. West Bladen’s boys finished 3rd with 89 points, and East Bladen was 7th (24 points).

800 meters – 1st Reema Virden (EB) 3:09.1; 2nd Destyni Blackwell (WB) 3:17.67.

1600 meters – 2nd Reema Virden (EB) 7:16.66; 5th Sierra Lawson (WB) 11:10.00.

3200 meters – 2nd Adairis Jimenez (WB) 18:26.24.
